Who we are

Status Hero, Inc. is a small group of experienced software professionals working remotely together across four time zones in the U.S. The company owns and operates one product: Status Hero. Bootstrapped and profitable for five years, we recently raised a seed round of funding from tech insiders to attract and build a core team. We've got big ambitions for the product and company!

What we do

Our mission is to help knowledge teams collaborate better together.

We believe that teams operate best when the work is transparent, everyone trusts each other, and distractions are kept to a minimum. "Flow" or "getting into the zone" is where real progress is made.

Most software tools overload team members with notifications. These pings hamper progress, spawn meetings, and disrupt flow. We want to cut through all that noise to empower team members, support the managers that serve them, and foster healthy and productive team environments. That doesn't mean replacing the tools teams rely on. Instead, we provide actionable insights from the data they generate in aggregate.

In the same way that agile has transformed software development, we believe the philosophies inherent in the Status Hero product have the potential to change teamwork for the better, especially for remote or hybrid organizations.

How we do it

First and foremost, we like what we do, the people we work with, and the actual work itself. This phase of the company is fun: we're small enough that everyone's contributions are a big deal, and we're learning new things all the time from each other and our diverse customer base.

Our culture defaults to async and transparent. Synchronous video meetings are reserved for meaningful collaboration and planning. The rest is handled over asynchronous means, like email, chat, or comments in pull requests. And of course, we use our own product every day to capture goals, blockers, and activity from our other tools. Twice a year we get everyone together in person to hang out and talk shop.

Finally, work/life balance is a priority. This is a startup, but the focus here is not on putting in hours and burning out, but instead calmly and sustainably harnessing our creative energy to assemble something lasting and impactful.
